The roof continues to leak after numerous repair calls.
- The roofing materials seem faulty and the roof is not even out of warranty.
- The material manufacturer refuses to honor their warranty.
- The roofing contractor did not install the roofing system as specified.
Unfortunately there are many reasons why roofing problems end up with lawsuits. The sad thing is that many times these lawsuits could of have been avoided in the first place.
Our approach is to work with you and first determine what the actual source of the problem is. CRC will conduct a forensic survey of the roof, locating and pinpointing the problem areas.
CRC will review the roof history, the specifications, contracts, field records, warranties, workmanship and the installed systems to get a clear overview of the problem and determine who is responsible. Once CRC has determined the sources of the problem, CRC will provide you with a detailed report and make recommendations for corrective action.
CRC will work with you as your representative in any settlement discussions with the other parties. Many times the owner is at a disadvantage in the negotiations, as the owner is dealing with the manufacturer, the specifier and the roofer, all who may have their own agendas and interests.
CRC will discuss with the roofing contractor, the specifier and/or the manufacturer what we have determined to be the cause of the roof problem and outline what corrective action is required. Many times once the other parties have seen the reports and discuss the problem, they are willing to make the necessary corrections. Sometimes it comes down to getting the other parties to see the problem, how it occurred and what the options are to correct the problems. At times it also takes some flexibility with the owner and the other parties to reach a win-win solution for everyone and get the problem resolved.
Lawsuits should be the last course of action to be taken and only after all other negotiations have failed, and if it gets to that point, CRC is right there for you as an expert witness.
